About Us

The mission and purpose of The Haven is to offer an informal and homelike atmosphere to its members, present and former consumers of mental health services, and their families.

This mission and purpose will be accomplished by the following:

bulletProviding its members with a non-threatening and comfortable community gathering place where people can socialize with those who share similar experiences.

bulletProviding its members the opportunity to participate in all phases of its operation, including the development of meaningful support systems, resource information, treatment, education, and survival skills.

bulletEncouraging volunteer leadership and personal growth through empowerment of members to participate in setting the rules and guidelines for the operation of the center.

 

The Haven Drop-In Center is a safe,
alcohol- and drug-free environment.

 

DREAMS NOT LIMITATIONS
Everyone has the right to dream and to strive to achieve personal aspirations.  The Haven focuses on what members can and want to do, helping them to overcome barriers, and providing resources to help them reach their dreams!

SELF-DETERMINATION, NOT DEPENDENCY
At The Haven we believe in self-help.  We help our members to help themselves.  Members should rely on their abilities to make decisions and plans and to take responsibility for those courses of actions. Staff members believe in partnerships.

CARING STAFF, NOT PROFESSIONAL DISTANCE
Staff and members share an adult relationship that is founded in mutual respect.  Staff members are committed, available, welcoming, caring, sincere, respectful, hopeful, supportive, positive, involved, and responsive.
